I was really challenged last Sunday with Christ's prayer for us in John 17:20-26 "that all of us would be one."  I think we have missed it when we think He was only praying for the unity of believers together (though He would love to see that too). I believe He was praying that we would be one with Him and His Father just as They are one together.  That's what Jesus went on to explain (read verses 21-23 again).  And that's what He had been talking about all evening - that His followers would have the same relationship with Him that He has with His Father.   

 Now what really excites me is to realize that the Bible says that Jesus is my Husband and I am His wife and that just as a husband and wife are one so Jesus and the church are one (Eph 5:22-33).  I believe that the love and excitement God designed for a husband and wife to enjoy together in marriage are just a little picture of the love and excitement God has designed for us to enjoy with Jesus our Husband.  And it was that passion that drove Jesus to the cross - to win us to Himself so we would accept His proposal for marriage.  And so we would learn not only to make love with Him but to be totally one together with Him as long as we both shall live - and that's forever.  And that is when we are truly pleasing to our Father as well - and one with HIm as well!!  There's a lot we don't understand.  But this we know - Jesus loves making us one with Him!! 

 So let's become the answer to Jesus' prayer!!
